Pubblicazioni Scientifiche

 

 La letteratura scientifica contiene le pubblicazioni scientifiche che espongono lavori originali teorici o sperimentali sul campo. La letteratura scientifica raffigura l'aspetto ufficiale della scienza, l’ambito in cui vengono trattati gli aspetti tecnici al più alto livello. Tramite essa inoltre si svolgono i dibattiti scientifici.

La letteratura scientifica comprende tre diversi livelli di fonti. Le fonti primarie sono rappresentate dai lavori originali come pubblicazioni di ricerche scientifiche.  Le fonti secondarie sono i lavori di ricerca bibliografica (i cd lavori di review), i libri, le raccolte di articoli e comunque tutte le pubblicazioni scientifiche che non portano alla luce nuove conoscenze per la comunità scientifica. Possono essere considerate fonti terziarie le enciclopedie o opere simili rivolte ad un vasto pubblico.

L’iter per giungere alla pubblicazione dei lavori di ricerca sulle riviste scientifiche non è affatto semplice: una volta terminata la sperimentazione o lo studio, gli autori scrivono un articolo che viene inviato alla redazione della rivista. Se lo studio non è sufficientemente interessante, oppure semplicemente non interessa ai lettori di quella testata, viene rimandato indietro. Se invece viene accettato, viene spedito dalla redazione a due o più esperti nella materia trattata che, anonimamente, passano al setaccio lo studio stesso: spesso richiedono un supplemento di indagine o una spiegazione più chiara.

Solo quando il lavoro soddisfa gli esperti viene ufficialmente accettato e pubblicato. Tutte le testate che usano questo sistema sono chiamate ‘peer reviewed’, cioè con ‘revisione tra pari’: non è la redazione a stabilire la bontà di una ricerca, ma un altro scienziato in grado di capirne tutti gli aspetti innovativi e ciò costituisce una sorta di marchio di garanzia.
